What is actually an Explorer Bundle and who is it intended for?

The Explorer Bundle is a tasting package with three different organic coffees: 250g each of Hochlandblüte from Ethiopia, Andenperle from Peru, and another origin. All beans are 100% Arabica and certified organic. Perfect for you if you are buying beans for the first time and are not yet sure which flavor profile you like best – instead of buying a whole kilo right away, you can try three completely different coffees from various growing regions. The Hochlandblüte is roasted as an "Omniroast," making it suitable for both espresso and filter coffee. You save 21% compared to buying individually and get a good overview of the range.

Where do the beans in the bundle come from and what does "organic" mean here specifically?

In the bundle, you will find beans from Ethiopia (Sidamo, Bensa, Shantawene village) and Peru (Yanesha community in the Andes). All coffees carry the EU organic seal (DE-ÖKO-007). Organic means: cultivation without chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and regular inspections by German authorities. Natur Bohne works directly with farms and cooperatives, not through exchanges. The Andes pearl comes from fair trade and has an SCA score of 87 points (specialty quality). You can trace exactly where your coffee comes from.

How do the three coffees in the bundle differ in taste, and which one is milder?

Each coffee in the bundle has its own flavor profile. The Hochlandblüte from Ethiopia is aromatic, intense, and offers floral as well as fruity notes. The Andenperle from Peru tastes full-bodied, balanced, and brings nut, chocolate, and caramel notes. In comparison of the three varieties, the Andenperle is the mildest coffee with low acidity.

What SCA scores do the three coffees in the Explorer Bundle have and how were they rated?

In the Explorer Bundle, the SCA scores according to the source are: Hochlandblüte 85, Hochlandjuwel 86, Andenperle 87. For Andenperle, a cupping score of 84 is also mentioned. The coffees were evaluated internally according to SCA standards, and there is no official certificate.

What varieties and processing methods are involved in the three bundle components Peru, Brazil, and Ethiopia Sidamo?

The bundle includes Peru Andenperle with Caturra, Catimor, and Catuai, processed washed. Ethiopia Sidamo Hochlandblüte contains Heirloom, also washed. Ethiopia Guji Hochlandjuwel consists of Heirloom, processed natural. I recommend Sidamo for a particularly floral filter coffee.

How does the Explorer Bundle differ in taste from Natur Bohne's Mount Everest Blend in terms of origin character and roasting approach?

Both concepts utilize multi-origin approaches but differ clearly: Mount Everest Blend combines five origins (Brazil, Ethiopia Guji, Honduras, Indonesia, India) into a consistent flavor profile, three of which are organic certified. The Explorer Bundle, on the other hand, offers three individually roasted single origins from Peru Villa Rica, Ethiopia Sidamo, and Ethiopia Guji Tero Farm. Flavor-wise, the Mount Everest Blend focuses on balanced complexity from blending, while the bundle specifically highlights the individual characteristics of the origin countries and farms. This makes the bundle ideal for sensory comparisons (cupping) to experience terroir and variety separately. Mount Everest Blend is a single product, while the Explorer Bundle consolidates three different origins.

Is the Ethiopia Sidamo Omniroast in the bundle suitable for light roast purists or rather medium-developed for espresso sweetness?

The Ethiopia Sidamo Omniroast is roasted in such a way that it is suitable for both espresso and filter coffee. The profile is medium-bodied, with fine sweetness and clear character. It is more developed than a classic light roast and has less pronounced floral or tea-like notes. If you prefer balanced fruity notes and sweetness, this coffee is a good fit for you.

What are the SCA scores of the three espressos in the bundle specifically, and how do their cupping profiles differ?

The bundle includes three organic espressos with the following SCA scores: Andenperle (Peru, 100% Arabica) scores 87 points and impresses with fruity sweetness. House blend N°1 reaches 85 points; its flavor is mild and balanced. Vesuv consists equally of Arabica (Brazil, Ethiopia) and Robusta (India). This dark roast brings strong, chocolatey notes, low acidity, and a dense crema. All varieties are EU organic certified.

How transparent is the supply chain for the bundle coffees, is there information on varieties, processing, and direct sourcing?

Each espresso in the bundle is traceable to its origin. Andenperle comes from the Yanesha community in Peru, traded directly and with a transparent history. Vesuv combines Cerrado Arabica from Brazil, Heirloom Arabica from Ethiopia, and Kerala Robusta from India. The collaboration with the producers is documented. House blend N°1 contains beans from Brazil, Honduras, and Indonesia. Transparency regarding cultivation and processing exists for all coffees. Natur Bohne confirms EU organic control and a gentle roasting process. Details about varieties and processes can be found on the respective product pages.

Is the bundle worth it sensorially if I already know Specialty Espresso, or is it more of an entry-level?

The bundle is aimed at specialty fans who are looking for variety and organic quality. Andenperle (SCA 87) and Hausblend N°1 (SCA 85) clearly fall within the specialty category. Vesuv specifically introduces Robusta character and expands the flavor spectrum. You will receive three profiles: fruity single origin, balanced blend, and strong Robusta blend. Each variety offers traceable origin and organic certification. With a savings of 24%, you will discover the sensory diversity and versatility in roasting and raw coffee from Natur Bohne. The set is not an entry-level package, but is specifically designed for sensory diversity with a specialty focus.
