What sets the Rocket Espresso Giotto R FAST apart from its siblings?

The same product line, different configurations. The rows come from the same data sheet that appears further below.

Group head
Faema E61

The E61 was introduced in 1961 and has remained the reference point since. A thermosiphon keeps it at temperature continuously, instead of you having to search for it before each shot. You can get seals, shower screens and portafilters for it from specialty dealers, not just the manufacturer.

Temperature control
no
Preinfusion
no
Flow control
optional

With Flow Control you manually control how quickly the water runs through the coffee grounds: start slowly, then increase pressure. That takes the edge off acidic beans and gives you an extra adjustment. Without Flow Control the extraction runs at a fixed pressure, and that is enough for most recipes.

Boiler volume
1.8 l
Boiler material
copper

Copper conducts heat quickly and evenly, which is why it is the classic boiler material. It reacts more sensitively to hard water than stainless steel; a water filter or soft water significantly extends the time between descalings.

Water connection
water tank, plumbed water connection

With a tank the machine does not need a water connection and can be placed anywhere there is a power outlet. For that you have to refill, and the water quality is in your hands: filtered or soft water reduces descaling.

Steam power
normal
Extraction
programmable

You can store extraction volumes and recall them at the push of a button. If you prefer to stop by hand you can still do that.

Pump type
rotary pump

A rotary pump runs significantly quieter and more evenly than a vibration pump and holds the pressure more steady over the entire extraction. It is also the prerequisite for a machine to be connected to the water line.

Cup warmer
yes

The top surface of the machine is warmed by residual heat. A prewarmed cup draws less heat from the espresso, and those last degrees decide whether it still tastes the same in the glass as in the cup.

Standby
no

The machine switches itself off after a set time or goes into a low-power state. That saves electricity when you turn it on in the morning and then forget about it during the day. Without standby it stays on until you switch it off.

Portafilter diameter
58 mm

58 millimeters is the most common size. Baskets, tampers, levelers and distributors are available for it from many manufacturers, so you are not tied to an unusual size or a single supplier.

What distinguishes the Rocket Espresso Giotto R FAST from the Rocket Espresso Giotto Cronometro R ST?

The Giotto R FAST is recommended if you are looking for a machine with a very short heating time. It takes 10 to 12 minutes to reach espresso, has improved boiler insulation, and a water tank sensor. The Cronometro R ST is classically equipped and is aimed at espresso fans who value proven operation.

How quickly can I get started in the morning, is the 10-minute warm-up time really enough?

The Giotto R FAST is ready for espresso after 10 to 12 minutes. For multiple espressos in succession, it delivers solid results. If you plan to make over 50 shots per session, I recommend a model with designated temperature stability.

Who is the Giotto intended for, will I be overwhelmed as a beginner?

The Giotto R FAST is aimed at beginners and home baristas. The dual boiler system with E61 brew group is tried and tested: lock in the portafilter, pull the lever down, and espresso flows. The integrated shot timer shows you the extraction time. With the dual boiler system, you can make espresso and froth milk at the same time – you don't have to wait. The machine offers enough options to fine-tune settings like temperature later on. However, you don't need any prior knowledge to get started right away.
