Who the Quick Mill 04100 Pippa is made for

Classic portafilter technology, without detours.

One boiler serves brewing and steaming sequentially. For espresso that is completely sufficient; if you want milk, switch over and wait briefly.

  1. 01 Small kitchens25 cm wide. Space does not determine the technology.
  2. 02 Mornings in a hurryReady after 5 to 8 minutes. No timer needed.
  3. 03 For those who want to keep it a long time58 mm portafilter, the most common size. Filter baskets, tampers and levelers are available from many manufacturers.

Group headring group head

A ring brew group has less mass than an E61. It warms up faster and uses less power in continuous operation, but it maintains temperature less consistently during rapid consecutive extractions.

The vibration pump is the most common type for home use: compact, affordable, reliable. It is audible, namely for the duration of the extraction, about half a minute.

Preinfusionno
Flow controlno

With Flow Control you manually control how quickly the water runs through the coffee grounds: start slowly, then increase pressure. That takes the edge off acidic beans and gives you an extra adjustment. Without Flow Control the extraction runs at a fixed pressure, and that is enough for most recipes.

With a tank the machine does not need a water connection and can be placed anywhere there is a power outlet. For that you have to refill, and the water quality is in your hands: filtered or soft water reduces descaling.

Portafilter diameter58 mm

58 millimeters is the most common size. Baskets, tampers, levelers and distributors are available for it from many manufacturers, so you are not tied to an unusual size or a single supplier.

Cup warmeryes

The top surface of the machine is warmed by residual heat. A prewarmed cup draws less heat from the espresso, and those last degrees decide whether it still tastes the same in the glass as in the cup.

Heat-up time5-8 min
Standbyno

The machine switches itself off after a set time or goes into a low-power state. That saves electricity when you turn it on in the morning and then forget about it during the day. Without standby it stays on until you switch it off.

The tamper supplied with most machines is made of plastic. A properly fitting tamper fills the portafilter basket to the edge, and it is exactly there that you find out whether the water will flow through evenly.

How stable is the brew temperature with the Pippa without PID?

The brewing temperature in the Pippa without PID control fluctuates somewhat during the extraction. After a warm-up time of about 5 to 8 minutes, the temperature typically increases or decreases during the next extractions. For stable results when making several espressos back-to-back, a model with PID control is recommended.

Does the Pippa have preinfusion or flow control?

The Pippa does not have programmable pre-infusion and no flow control. You work with a ring brew group and a vibration pump. This means that the pressure builds up immediately, without gently wetting the coffee bed beforehand. Especially with light roasts or very firm pucks, extraction can be challenging. If you value pre-infusion, I recommend the Rubino Plus. This offers programmable pre-infusion via the OLED display and an E61 brew group for better control.
