What sets the Mahlkönig E80S apart from its siblings?

The same product line, different configurations. The rows come from the same data sheet that appears further below.

Grinder type
hopper grinders (on-demand grinders)

The beans sit in the hopper and are ground on demand. This is the faster way in everyday life, especially if the same coffee is used all the time. A full hopper, however, means that the beans at the bottom are exposed to the air for longer.

Grinder
80 mm

The diameter of the grinding burrs determines how many revolutions are needed for the same amount of coffee. Larger burrs need fewer revolutions, the grind warms up less, and heat in the grind reduces aroma.

Burrs
80 mm, cast steel

Flat burrs grind with two parallel rings and deliver a tight particle size distribution. You do not recognize dull burrs by appearance but by the fact that the shot runs faster than usual.

Grind size adjustment
electric, Disc Distance Detection

The adjustment is done by a motor instead of a manual ring. Settings can therefore be reproduced exactly, which saves you time in daily operations when switching varieties.

Dosing
timed dosing

The grinder grinds for a set time. That is quick for everyday use, but you have to readjust it when the bean changes or when the grind size changes, because then a different amount will flow in the same time.

Control
Without app control
Grinding capacity
6.0 g/s

The grinder output indicates how much ground coffee comes out per second. For a single drink you hardly notice it, as extraction and milk determine the time. You only feel it when many drinks are made back to back.

Bean hopper
1800 g

A large hopper means less frequent refilling. Bear in mind that beans age in it: anything that stays in the hopper for longer than a few days loses aroma, no matter how good the grinder is.

Burr lifespan
2500 kg

The manufacturer's guideline for how much coffee the burrs can handle before they should be replaced. You do not notice dull burrs by their appearance but because the extraction runs faster than usual at the same setting.

Who the Mahlkönig E80S is made for

A grinder built for the shop.

The beans sit in the hopper, ground on demand. This is the faster way when the same variety is always running.

  1. 01 Counter for high throughput80 mm burrs, hopper for 1.8 kg. Shot after shot without pause, even if the queue reaches the door.
  2. 02 Dose at the touch of a buttonOnce the timer is set, every shot runs the same. No weighing while orders come in.

What matters for the grinder

What this grinder can do and where its limit lies.

The numbers from the data sheet, in the order that matters. A faster grinder does not grind better, it only grinds more.

80 mm

Large burrs, cooler grounds

The larger the burrs, the fewer revolutions are needed for the same amount of coffee. The grounds heat up less, and heat in the ground coffee costs aroma. Installed are cast steel.

2500 kg

How long the burrs last

Manufacturer specification for when the burrs should be replaced. Dull burrs are not noticeable by the grind appearance, but only by taste.

3 s

How long a dose takes

For 18 g of coffee, calculated from 6 g per second. For a single drink you hardly notice it: brewing and milk foam take longer than grinding. For 50 drinks during peak time that is about 4 minutes less grinding time than the mid-range of our assortment.

24 × 34 cm

This is how much space it needs

These are 816 square centimeters of counter that are permanently occupied. At 63 cm height you need space above it for refilling.

90 kg per day

It cannot do more than that.

That would be about 5000 espressos per day at 18 g per shot. The maximum performance quoted by the manufacturer, not a recommendation for everyday use. If you regularly operate in this range, schedule maintenance more frequently.

All values come from the data sheet of this device. If a specification is missing, it is not listed here.

Is a complete technical data sheet available for the E80S with motor specifications, type of grinding discs, power consumption, and dimensions?

A technical data sheet for the E80S is available, providing information on the motor, grinding discs, power consumption, and dimensions. The grinder uses 80 mm grinding discs made of special steel. The housing dimensions are 24 cm wide, 34 cm deep, and 63 cm high. All technical details can be requested through the Mahlkönig distribution.

From what minimum order quantity are tiered prices applicable, and how is the availability of spare parts for continuous operation regulated?

Volume discounts are offered individually starting from a certain quantity or for projects; please inquire with our sales team regarding this. The supply of spare parts is ensured through the Europe-wide service network. Important spare and wear parts such as grinding discs are available, and separate service agreements can be made upon request.

What certificates (CE, UL, NSF, food contact) are available, and are there declarations of conformity for EU procurement regulations?

The E80S features a CE marking for the EU market. Depending on the destination country, ETL Safety and ETL Sanitation certificates are also available. All materials in contact with food comply with the applicable EU requirements. For public tenders, Mahlkönig provides declarations of conformity and compliance statements upon request.

How does the standard E80S differ from the E80S GbW in terms of dosing accuracy and integration capability into existing portafilter systems?

The E80S doses coffee grounds time-controlled via a timer. The E80S GbW uses Grind-by-Weight technology and thus controls by weight. Both models feature 80mm grinding discs and comparable mechanical properties. The GbW variant does not require coupling to existing machines and can be flexibly integrated.
