What makes this coffee special

Mild, nutty, clean

Mild and nutty on the attack, with almond and caramel, followed by a fine citrus note. The body is medium and soft, the acidity clearly perceptible without dominating the nutty profile. An everyday espresso that also holds up in cappuccino and latte.

Milk smooths the acidity and lifts almond and caramel. The cappuccino becomes nutty-sweet rather than chocolatey, with the citrus note as a fresh counterpoint. Many light espressos disappear in large milk drinks, Andenperle does not, because the caramel sweetness of the espresso roast carries through.

MildNuttyAlmondCaramelCitrus

Aromas are natural flavor associations from green coffee and roasting. Nothing is added to the coffee.

CEPRO Yanesha cooperative (Indigenous Yanesha community, 141 coffee farmers from 7 villages, founded 2016)

A good fit if you …

  • if you drink a lot with milk and want an espresso that does not disappear in a cappuccino
  • if you like nutty and caramel flavors, with a clear rather than heavy structure
  • if you are bored of classically chocolatey espressos but do not want a fruit bomb

Probably not if you …

  • if you come from Brazilian espresso and are used to a lot of body, cocoa and almost no acidity. Then choose Hornisgrinde
  • if you want no perceptible acidity at all
  • if you are looking for a very dark, smoky Italian. Then choose Ätna or Vesuv
  • if you mainly drink filter coffee. Then Sonnental is better suited, the same bean roasted lighter

CEPRO Yanesha cooperative (Indigenous Yanesha community, 141 coffee farmers from 7 villages, founded 2016)

Andenperle grows in the mountain rainforest of Villa Rica in the province of Oxapampa, cultivated by members of the indigenous Yanesha community. The Yanesha are among the oldest indigenous peoples of Peru.

In the cooperative CEPRO Yanesha, 141 coffee farmers from seven villages, 43 of them women, pool their harvest. Together they achieve volumes and quality standards that individual families could not enforce on the world market. The cooperative is organic and Fairtrade certified and registered under FLO-ID 34607.

The coffee gardens are at 1,200 to 1,800 meters, right in the middle of the UNESCO Oxapampa-Ashaninka-Yanesha biosphere reserve. The reserve protects some of the last largely undisturbed ecosystems of central Peru.

Every cherry is hand selected and processed by washing. This step is the reason for the clarity that sets Andenperle apart from heavier espressos.

Empfehlenswert

Ask your own question →

How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?

We roast in Vöhringen and only fill your bag immediately before shipping. Until then the roast batch is stored sealed in bulk packaging. The roast date is printed on every package. After 10 to 14 days of resting the sweetness and body are just right, after that the coffee remains aromatic for about four months.

How long should freshly roasted coffee rest?

About two weeks from the roast date. During this time the beans release carbon dioxide. Right after roasting, the gas disturbs extraction: the espresso runs unevenly and often tastes sharp or flat. After resting, sweetness and body come through fully. The roast date is printed on every package, and after that the coffee stays aromatic for about four months.

Whole bean or ground?

Both. In addition to whole bean we grind on request for portafilter (fine), drip coffee maker, moka pot or French Press (coarse). Freshly ground tastes best, ground coffee loses aroma faster.

What package sizes are available?

250 g and 500 g, most varieties also as 1 kg. The larger the package, the cheaper the price per kilo. We display the price per kilo directly at the size selection.

Is the coffee really organic?

Yes. All our coffees are EU organic certified, Naturgold and Naturharmonie are additionally Demeter certified. The responsible organic control body is shown on each product page in the bean profile, together with the note non-EU agriculture.

Can I get the coffee on a subscription?

Yes. With a subscription you save 10 % compared to a single order. You set delivery frequency and quantity directly at purchase.
