Espresso machine comparison tool
With our espresso machine comparison tool you can put up to three machines from our range side by side, line by line. Look at the machine type first, it decides whether you can brew and steam at the same time. Or start with one of our suggestions.
Still empty: pick a machine at the top of each column or tap a suggestion.

How to read the comparison
- Construction
- A single boiler brews and steams one after the other, a heat exchanger does both at once from one boiler, a dual boiler has a separate boiler for each.
- Group head
- The group head keeps the temperature during extraction. The E61 is widespread and easy to service, other designs focus on things like faster heat up.
- Pump type
- Rotary pumps run quieter and allow a plumbed-in connection. Vibration pumps are more compact.
- Temperature control
- With PID you set the brew temperature digitally and it stays more stable. Without PID a pressure switch regulates it.
- Boiler volume
- A larger boiler delivers more steam for milk drinks in a row, but takes longer to heat up.
- Preinfusion
- Pre-infusion wets the coffee before full pressure. This helps an even extraction.
- Flow control
- With flow control you steer the water flow during the shot and change the taste on purpose.
- Water connection
- Plumbed-in means a connection to the water line. Otherwise you fill the tank by hand.
- Tank volume
- The tank size decides how often you refill.
- Portafilter diameter
- 58 mm is a common size. You will find most accessories such as tampers and baskets for it.
- Heat-up time
- The heat up time shows how long you wait after switching on.
- Power
- Power affects heat up and steam. For large machines it also decides the power connection.
- Width
- The width decides whether the machine fits on your counter next to the grinder and cups.
- Depth
- Measure the depth with the portafilter in place: it sticks out at the front, and you need room at the back for cable and water connection.
- Height
- Plan space above the machine for cups and for filling the tank.
- Weight
- The weight helps you plan counter space and transport.
- Area of application
- The use case is our classification from datasheet and advice. The manufacturer's approval is in the manual.
Frequently asked questions
Single boiler, heat exchanger or dual boiler?
If you mainly drink espresso, a single boiler is often enough. For milk drinks you need espresso and steam at the same time, which heat exchangers and dual boilers offer. A dual boiler controls brew temperature separately from steam.
Do I need PID?
PID keeps the brew temperature more stable and adjustable. If you drink different roasts, this helps you.
Which machine suits a small café?
If several people work at the machine, two groups and a plumbed-in connection are worth it. The suggestion “Small café, 2 groups” shows suitable machines.
Why does it sometimes say “not specified”?
We only enter values the manufacturer states. If a value is missing, we would rather ask than guess.
