What sets the Bezzera DUO MN portafilter espresso machine apart from its siblings?

The same product line, different configurations. The rows come from the same data sheet that appears further below.

Construction
dual boiler
Group head
Faema E61

The E61 was introduced in 1961 and has remained the reference point since. A thermosiphon keeps it at temperature continuously, instead of you having to search for it before each shot. You can get seals, shower screens and portafilters for it from specialty dealers, not just the manufacturer.

Temperature control
yes

A PID control continuously measures the temperature and regulates the heater accordingly, instead of simply switching it on and off at a threshold. The difference does not show in the first espresso of the day but in the third in a row: the machine hits the same point again.

Preinfusion
no
Flow control
optional

With Flow Control you manually control how quickly the water runs through the coffee grounds: start slowly, then increase pressure. That takes the edge off acidic beans and gives you an extra adjustment. Without Flow Control the extraction runs at a fixed pressure, and that is enough for most recipes.

Boiler volume
0.45+1.0 l
Boiler material
stainless steel

Stainless steel is resistant to water constituents and neutral in taste. It conducts heat more slowly than copper, but the temperature stays more stable when many shots are pulled in succession.

Water connection
water tank, plumbed water connection

With a tank the machine does not need a water connection and can be placed anywhere there is a power outlet. For that you have to refill, and the water quality is in your hands: filtered or soft water reduces descaling.

Steam power
very strong
Extraction
manual
Pump type
rotary pump

A rotary pump runs significantly quieter and more evenly than a vibration pump and holds the pressure more steady over the entire extraction. It is also the prerequisite for a machine to be connected to the water line.

Cup warmer
yes

The top surface of the machine is warmed by residual heat. A prewarmed cup draws less heat from the espresso, and those last degrees decide whether it still tastes the same in the glass as in the cup.

Standby
yes

The machine switches itself off after a set time or goes into a low-power state. That saves electricity when you turn it on in the morning and then forget about it during the day. Without standby it stays on until you switch it off.

Portafilter diameter
58 mm

58 millimeters is the most common size. Baskets, tampers, levelers and distributors are available for it from many manufacturers, so you are not tied to an unusual size or a single supplier.

Who the Bezzera DUO MN portafilter espresso machine is made for

E61 and two boilers, without commercial dimensions.

The combination is rare: the classic E61 brew group that every barista knows, and next to it two separate boilers. Whoever wants both usually ends up with significantly larger machines.

  1. 01 For demanding home baristasTwo boilers, PID, E61. Everything an espresso bar has, in 31 cm width.
  2. 02 For heavy milk frothersVery strong steam from its own boiler. The brew temperature remains unaffected.
  3. 03 Kitchens with a water connectionTank or plumbed-in water, both are possible. You decide when setting up, not when buying.

Useful accessories

The parts you really need

Wiedecent Tamper V6 58.35 mm Wiedecent Tamper V6 58.35 mm

The tamper supplied with most machines is made of plastic. A properly fitting tamper fills the portafilter basket to the edge, and it is exactly there that you find out whether the water will flow through evenly.

143,17 €incl. VAT.
Brewing group brush with wooden handle Brewing group brush with wooden handle

Run it through the brew group once a day, two minutes of work. Without that, coffee oils build up on the shower screen and the extraction becomes uneven long before you taste it.

21,62 €incl. VAT.
PULY Caff Powder NSF PULY Caff Powder NSF

Backflush with a blind basket every one to two weeks. This removes the coffee oils from the group head and valve that the water jet does not reach.

13,38 €incl. VAT.
Coffee subscription for food service

Freshly roasted, delivered on a schedule, at a volume price.

Organic and Demeter espresso from our own roastery as a monthly subscription. You set the quantity, we deliver weekly or every two weeks free to your door. Roasts can be changed monthly, the subscription can be paused, and there is no minimum term.

Ungenaue Informationen
