In which order should you try them?

First Andenperle, then Hausblend N°1, finally Vesuv. From mild to strong. If you start with Vesuv, Andenperle will taste thin afterwards.

It suits you if you...

  • are looking for classic espresso with crema, not light and fruity
  • want to find out how strong your espresso may be
  • drink a lot with milk, all three hold up in a cappuccino
  • work with a portafilter or moka pot

Does not suit you if you...

  • like fruity, light coffees. Then take the
  • mainly brew with pour-over. These three are not designed for that
  • have an automatic machine. Vesuv is dark and oily, then take the
  • want pure Arabica. Vesuv contains Canephora

The three in comparison

  • Andenperle: Peru, washed, 1,200 to 1,800 m, 100 % Arabica. Medium-strong roast, mild acidity
  • Hausblend N°1: Blend, medium roast. Chocolate and nougat with citrus freshness
  • Vesuv: Blend of Arabica and Canephora, dark roasted. Highest body, densest crema, hardly any acidity

Portafilter starting recipe

  • 18 g in the double basket, 36 to 40 g in the cup, ratio 1:2 to 1:2.2
  • 27 to 31 seconds, grind size fine
  • Temperature: 93 to 94 °C for Andenperle and Hausblend, 92 to 93 °C for Vesuv because of the darker roast

The yield is given in grams, not milliliters, because the crema distorts the volume. If the espresso runs through too quickly and tastes thin: grind finer. If it runs slowly and tastes bitter: grind coarser. Loosen the coffee grounds before tamping with a WDT tool.

Origin and transparency

All three coffees are EU organic certified, non-EU agriculture. You can find origin, varieties, processing and batch data on the linked individual pages.

Roast date and enjoyment window: The roast date is printed on each pack. After 10 to 14 days of resting time the coffees are at their peak, after that they remain aromatic for around four months. Until ordering the roast batches are stored closed in bulk, your three bags are only filled immediately before shipping.

Roasting

Our coffee beans are gently roasted at 210 °C for about 13–16 minutes, resulting in a medium roast that perfectly brings out the fine aromas. Unlike large roasteries that produce darker beans at higher temperatures and shorter times, our method preserves a balanced, delicate flavor that you can taste immediately.
