Eureka Regolo Tamper with adjustable tamping force
With the Regolo you set the tamping force once and then reproduce it on every shot. When you press the tamper down, it gives an audible click as soon as the set pressure is reached. This way the result no longer depends on how hard you happen to press that morning.
The adjustment range runs from 8 to 16 kg. The scale is engraved in the sleeve, you can read the value directly. The collar rests on the rim of the portafilter while tamping and guides the plunger straight down. The coffee bed is tamped level, crooked pucks and edge channeling become less frequent.
Which diameter?
The tamper must fit your basket, not the machine. Most portafilter espresso machines with an E61 grouphead have 58 mm baskets. 58.3 mm is intended for precision baskets that are slightly wider at the top. 53 and 57 mm fit machines with smaller portafilters. If in doubt, measure the inner diameter of your basket at the top rim.
